Just got back from a visit with Mirian. I didn't take my camera because the battery was dead. Even if I had taken it, I wouldn't have taken a picture of her. I would have felt like an animal.
We went at 4. It was the first time in my life I've seen a real LIVE skeleton. The cancer has stolen her body. I can't imagine what it's done to her insides.
I changed her diaper, which was heavily soiled, although she said her neighbor had changed it for her earlier today. I bathed her down with some warm water and baby wash and dried her with an old piece of lingerie they gave me to do it with; they have no towels. I aim to give her one next time I go. She was in a lot of pain and could hardly breathe. She has a bad cough but hasn't the strength to do so. April got her some sheets and a flannel blanket from the house and we tucked her in real nice. We also had her do a nebulizer treatment and sang a few songs for her. When we left, she was breathing easier and was sleeping softly. What wonderful rest awaits her in Heaven!

Is Mirian a believer? WOW. yeah such a joyful place awaits her. When i think of people who are in those situation, it just gives me new vision of the fragility of human life. My great uncle's son in law got terminal cancer discovered a while ago. 1 month later he passed away. It's true, how, like, the only place we're safe, is in Christ!
ReplyDeleteYes, Mirian is a beleiver. And safe in Christ, doesn't always mean "safe" in the way we usually mean it. One can be "safe in Christ" and still be "unsafe" by the worlds terms. For example, being in La Moskitia isn't termed "safe" by many people. But if that is where God wants you, then that is the safest place to be. Know what I mean, right? Keep prayin for a miracle for her. And stay on the sunny side. :)

ReplyDeleteYes what a rest she will have! May He give her peace. Christ is with her. Your witness is powerful. Actions louder than words right? You are living breathing Him with experiences like that. Does Mirian go to the your church? Have I met her?
ReplyDeleteShe no longer can make it to church because she is so weak, and her children do not, either. Unless you've visited her at her house, you've probably never met her.
